Smart charging of electric cars in the industry

20/11/2017

The Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Automatization (IPA), Stuttgart, and Easy Smart Grid have developed a plan to evaluate efficient charging of electric vehicles in industrial sites and derives lucrative business cases. Focus is on overcoming current barriers and on the implementation of innovative energy management with minimum cost and maximum safety in energy supply. The available flexibility of electric vehicles will be utilized via decentral energy management to continuously adapt the charging processes to available power and to different industrial requirements in energy management. The innovative decentral energy management technology avoids the known disadvantages of central coordination and is in line with current requirements of automotive industry on keeping maximum control over the charging process. After a common conceptual paper was worked out already in 2017, the partners currently send out a concrete offer for a study on potentials to interested business partners.
