Renewables Take Off

Renewable energies sources are becoming increasingly economic and competitive. To fully use their potential, energy system must be adapted:

  • Decentralized Generation: Wind farms are spread over the country, and PV can even be installed by individual households.
  • Matching Supply and Demand: Electric grids cannot store energy, so energy produced and consumed must match at any time. Fossil production could easily adapt to consumption changes. Renewables on the other side depend on weather (wind and sun), so its production rarely matches current demand.
  • Grid infrastructure expansion: The volatile nature of renewable energies and its growth also in new sectors such as e-mobility increases grid infrastructure load.
