Research project results: Easy Smart Grid should lead to stable grid

The team working on "Future Energy Systems" has published the first results of their work. They concentrate on stability of energy systems with decentral management based on frequency detection

A cooperation which we have started already in 2013 is bringing more and more fruitful results. After the formal kick-off of the research project “Future Energy Systems” in Goettingen/Germany in December 2014 (see earlier news), two publications were issued by our research partners in January 2015.

For the broader public, a press release (in German) was issued by Max-Planck-Gesellschaft. It presents the research team, some of its activities and findings, and the potential this should have for the possibility to transform our energy system to a de-central management approach.

For the scientific community, a paper (in English) has been published by a team around Prof. Marc Timme (Max-Planck-Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization - MPIDS) in the open access “New Journal of Physics”, having been independently reviewed by two experts. It describes the positive results of stability assessment using two methods, “volume of the basin of attraction” and “linear stability”.
